The 21st Century Community Learning Centers grant monies help to support afterschool and summer programs in Lamoille North communities. LNSU was first awarded 21CCLC grant funds in January 2003 for after school programs in the three schools that met eligibility at the time: Eden Central, Hyde Park Elementary, and Johnson Elementary. In the grant cycle of 2008, these schools received renewed funding and new funding was awarded for Cambridge Elementary and Waterville Elementary.
Each summer over 100 students attend summer sessions and more than 300 participate in afterschool programs. The programs offer a wide variety of opportunities for students which can include tutoring, homework support, after care, enrichment activities such as art, drama, gardening, robotics, cooking, mountain biking, snowshoeing, music, survival skills, technology, etc. Programs relate to the core subjects offered during the school day and are a continuation of the learning that takes place in the classroom.
Programs are open to all students and no one is turned away due to a lack of ability to pay.
